Bill and Bonnie go to Myrtle Beach

We went to Myrtle Beach for a little R & R after Bill's birthday. We stayed here - Westgate Myrtle Beach. It was fabulous.

We weren't really expecting a kitchen, but there is was. A tiny little two burner stove, full sized fridge and - most interestingly - a dishwasher directly under the sink. Huh! Who knew you could do that???

Little living room which would have been very useful if we had kids along or something. As it was, we didn't really use it, but it was comfortable.

Hey check out the shower! The dual heads each had nice strong streams of water that intersected one another for a glorious shower. It was also large enough to accommodate two if you were so inclined. I need to get me one of these.

Bill has opened the armoire and is wondering why there's a boom box in there along with some random stereo components.

This little rattan furniture for the porch is exceedingly heavy! Must be to keep it from blowing away in a high wind.

Beach side view. Labor day weekend, so it was really pretty crowded. See that pier off in the distance? We walked down there later that day.

Strip side view.

We decided to take a walk and see some sights. We went to the pier, got a drink and caught this shark. Just kidding... real as it looks (what chipped paint??), it's just a fake.

There were lots of people fishing off the pier. We watched a guy sort of catch a sting ray. He had it on his line, but took forever reeling it up so we abandoned the watching and thus the photo op. The weather was perfect and it was a great afternoon. Little did we know that this - our first day there - would be the only sunny day we'd have.

Later that afternoon we went out to Barefoot Landing and walked around there. Ate at TBonz, which was really good. Then finally went back to the room. The moon was very beautiful that night. I took about 12 pictures of it but still didn't capture how beautiful it really looked.

The amusement park was beautiful too.

Dividing strip.

Next morning dawned dull and gray.

So we decided to play putt putt!

This mini-golf was within walking distance from our hotel and we enjoyed it very much. But after playing the first 18 holes, Bill felt a little rest was in order before coming back for a second round. Naturally it poured down rain the rest of the day and we never went back.

This is a waterfall on the putt putt course.

View of the hotel walking back.

We went for a walk on the beach. Walked all the way down the where the Pavillion used to be. This is where the Pavillion used to be. This empty block of land. Depressing, I thought.
Here's Bill communing with Mother Ocean (he's really watching a group of people who just took off on a banana boat behind a jet ski).

That night we went to J Edwards for dinner. Food was delicious!
And plentiful...

No room for dessert, but Bill ordered this cobbler anyway, with two spoons. It was cold. Somehow I had expected it to be warm. Bill thought it was very yummy anyway.

After dinner, we hit up the amusement park. Here's our hotel from the ferris wheel.
We won these animals on the fairway. They rode the ferris wheel with us, of course.

Next day was another dreary one. So we hit the aquarium.
Gasp! HUGE stingrays. Of course, you can't pet them...
I don't know what this is but it's weird looking.
The jellyfish tank was cool!

This is a sort of skylight - but it's an aquarium up there. I think this is the bottom of the stingray-petting pond. OK, yes, there's a stingray petting pond.
Me in a tank.

Bill in the tank.

Bill on the moving sidewalk thingy in the aquarium.
Set the timer to try to get both of us on the moving sidewalk thingy. We though we might disappear from view before the timer went off!

View of the strand that night.

Last night in town. Enough screwing around - it's time for the 170-item all you can eat seafood buffet!
Crab legs were wonderful. Steak (oddly) was wonderful.

Bill was sated.
Food was everywhere. It was a magical night. *burp*

Last morning dawned beautiful and clear. Typical...

Before we left, it started to cloud up a little so that made me feel a tiny bit better about leaving. We had a really nice time. Thanks Bill!

Bill's Birthday

Sigh... My cakes... They never look good. But they always taste pretty good. This one was two orange layers and two lemon layers.

Sam and Travis (ok, me, too..) sucked the helium out of some balloons to sing to Bill.
We played Pictionary. Bill and I kicked butt on Sam and Travis!
Sam was the photographer for the evening so there are few pictures of her.

Happy 54th, Bill.
