Random Pictures From My Phone
Hey Harley! This is Sam's dog (Travis's dog, really) riding in my car. She's so sweet. And so pretty in her new pink collar.
This is Sam's lizard. It's freakish. Eats crickets by flinging its tongue out, then the cricket sticks to the tongue, which zips back into the mouth. His eyes goggle around independently of one another, too. Weird, tiny little thing.
Mike made Faye this coffee table. From scratch. I mean he purchased pieces of wood and assembled it into a table, then sanded and primed and painted. The graphic is a scene from "How to Train Your Dragon". Faye loves that movie.... This table is super sturdy, too. I could stand on it!
Mike. Dork. :) Mowing in two different shoes, with rolled up pants legs. HA HA HA!!
I was sitting outside reading a book and this butterfly landed on my boot. And stayed for like 10 minutes!

Mike Goes Away
Well, he's been wanting to go abroad for quite a while. Mentioned it about a year ago and now, finally, all the work has come to fruition. Mike left for Taiwan yesterday. He's doing a semester at National Taiwan University in Taipei. What an ordeal it's been, leading up to it. The day before he left we had a gathering. Here's Gavin jumping on my couch :)
Sam and Gavin cuddle on the couch.
Travis helped Dave make some of his delicious gumbo. (I have to say that Mike, Faye and I were all sick that night.... I am not really pointing fingers, but the gumbo.... God, the gumbo....)
Mike and Faye relaxed. I'm sure Faye will miss Mike more than anyone!
Jimmy attended.
Gavin got a little race car and went crazy riding it around the driveway.
No. I did not make the cake. Nor did I write on it. The lady at the bakery apparently thought "Bon Voyage" would take far less room that it did. I thought it was an ice cream cake when I bought it, but sadly, it was not. It was just a frozen regular cake. Bummer. Other visitors came and went, wishing Mike farewell and so on. By 9:00 everyone was gone.
The next morning we went to the airport bright and early. I drove with Sam, Faye, and Mike. Dave, Rene and Brooke came separately (and almost too late as it turned out!!)
At the airport.
Mike and mom.
There we go. Mike plays this one straight...
Mike and Faye.
Dave finally arrived at the last minute. Glad ya made it!
Hugs were hugged and goodbyes said. I cried like a baby. I mean I sobbed! (Which as most of you know, I NEVER do!) It was embarrassing! I don't know why I reacted like that. Sheesh....
I did manage to take this last picture as he headed through security and to tell you the truth this one still chokes me up a little. What a weinie I am! This is about when Rene and Brooke came running in. At least they got to yell and wave goodbye to him.
After I was able to compose myself, Sam and I drove Faye back to Greensboro. I dropped Sam off at her house - thanks for riding with me Sam!!
So Mike's off into the great unknown. He skyped me from Hong Kong around 7:30 this morning (the day after all these pictures). He was exhausted but happy. He said it was daylight for the entire 15-hour flight from Newark to Hong Kong. He still had to catch his flight from there to Taipei where he will arrive at 11:50 pm their time (11:50 am my time, conveniently enough).
Check out the clock over to the right up top of my blog --------------------------------------------------->
Tells what time it is in Taipei!
