A Tale Of Two Kidneys
God, this last weekend sucked. Samantha called me Friday night in tears. She was in the bathroom at work and had thrown up. She had been to the emergency room the previous Sunday and had been told she had a urinary tract infection. She got a prescription for Bactrim and sent on her way. I know she was taking the Bactrim as prescribed, but she just didn't get much better.
So Friday, I told her to leave work and go to the ER up there near her house. She dithered a bit, but went home. She told me to call her at 5:00 am and wake her up so she could be in the ER when it (hopefully) wouldn't be very crowded. Poor baby. She was miserable. Her back hurt, she had a fever, and now vomiting. She went to University Hospital in Charlotte, which is very close to her house - like 3 minutes, and thank God for that, because she was very sick. She had an IV put in, and they gave her pain medicine, fluids, and antibiotics in that. She had blood in her urine. By the time the pain medicine took effect, she was quite happy for the first time in over a week when all this back pain started.
They did a CT scan (Cat Scan) and an ultrasound. Turned out, her kidney was swollen and infected. They gave her 4 prescriptions and sent her on her way. I brought her back to my house, dropping her prescriptions off at Eckerd's on the way. She nested on the living room couch and I went shopping for sick foods and to pick up the drugs. She was prescribed Cipro - very expensive, Ultram - a pain pill that's no fun at all, Phenergan - to stop the vomiting and make her sleep, and Motrin - for its anti-inflammatory properties. The drugs cost $120. Dave said he'd pay for it! Hooray! Unfotrunately I couldn't find his checks, so I ended up eating this cost at least till more checks come.
Sam felt a bit better each day, and Monday night I took her back home. Bought her some food for her house and that was that.
Poor thing. Yesterday, her mouth was covered - COVERED - in fever blisters. Her lips are poractically inside-out. She says she feels good, though, and is grateful for that.

Prank Caller! Prank Caller!
So there I was, sound asleep in my bed. Alone. It was last night just before midnight. My phone rang. It was some asshole who knew what kind of car I drive, telling me he's a private investigator and he's investigating the disappearance of a person named Tracy. He creeped me out. He laughed at me, sort of, saying I sounded annoyed. I asked his name and he said James Graham. I asked his phone number and he said he was sure I had caller id, but his number was (704)484-2420. Huh.
I was fairly rude to him and hung up. I sat there for a minute feeling mildly creeped out by the fact that he knew what kind of car I have. So I did a *69 to see what number he was calling from and if he had told the truth about that. He had. So I went back to laying bed, but was bothered. So I tried looking up the number on a reverse lookup site. No results. I looked up private investigators around this area named Graham. No luck. So, in my bed, I was tapping my foot, thinking....
And finally fell asleep. Josh came home at 3:30, as usual, quiet as a mouse, but I was so nervous that he woke me up! I considered calling Bill or Dave or the police, but figured that would just be stupid. When I got up this morning, I called Bill and he told me to call the cops. Arrgghh! I do NOT trust a cop. But I did.
Turns out this is a white amale, 49 years old, who is *not* a private investigator. There is no missing person named Tracy Lee. The cop went out to this guy's house, but he refused to answer the door. She (the cop) said she wasn't sure what to do at this point and would go back to the station and figure it out and let me know. I've not heard from her, yet.
Great. A weirdo knows my name and what kind of car I drive.
It's always something!

A Whole New Year
So here it is... another year has come and gone. It was a busy one. Lots happened. Samantha had 9 jobs! Geez... Who does that? She called me the other day while Bill and I were eating at Waffle House and had me make a list of places she'd worked so I could then look up the phone numbers and report back to her. The idea was that she would call each place and make sure her W-2 went to my house. She worked at The Cloisters (apartment complex), Hooters of Gastonia, Hooters of Statesville, Vinnie's Raw Bar, Time (nightclub in Charlotte), Bar Charlotte, The Fox and The Hound, Bally Total Fitnes... I guess I've forgotten one.
Here she is at Therapy this past week (new job)...

"Bus Stop" went well with Michael as Virgil Blessing. I'll post some pics when I can. "The Emperor's New Clothes" is the spring musical, and Michael will be playing the role of Dudley, servant to the prince. How fun.
Aaahh... pics are in now. Here he is.
Bill is Brrrr... freezing his ass off in Connecticut right now. He will get to Manhattan to see his mom at the end of the week, though, and that's a good thing. He's not seen her in a long time.
