Wizard of Oz - November 22 Show

The show was at Carolina Theater in Greensboro. It was a really nice place. Here's the outside.

This is the view of the stage from the balcony. This is where we sat last week.
Here's Mike on his scarecrow post when Dorothy first finds him.
Dorothy: "I think he said 'oil can'."
Scarecrow: "Oil can what?"
We're off to see the Wizard! The wonderful Wizard of Oz....
The kids on the floor are poppies...
On to Emerald City!
Curtain Call!
Sam and Mike (in his "Kansas" clothes) after the show.
Sam cheesed it up with a statue in the theater (Thanks for not grabbing the boobie, Sam!)
The whole play was amazing. The kids who played the Munchkins were unbelievably well directed. Some of them have been doing this every year for a long time. This show has run yearly for the last 14 years. It was great, and of course, Michael was absolutely wonderful. We were all proud of him. Samantha cried, which is odd, as I'm usually the one to cry at these things. I was a little overwhelmed, too, and actually nudged the woman next to me to say "That's my son!"

A Few "Wizard" Pics

I saved these stage shots off of another website. The others are promo stills. My baby, the Scarecrow!

Sam As A Boy!

Sam dressed up as a boy for Halloween. Dang, Sam. You're Hot!

Random Pics of Mike

I was searching for pictures of Wizard of Oz and came upon some other pictures of Mike that I like. Here are some of them. Looks like he's having fun at college!

Election Day 2008

Record voter turnout? Not in my precinct. This is my polling place as I arrived to cast my ballot. Empty as always.

Bill's a "Master Mover"

Here's Bill's truck. He recently earned the "Master Mover" designation. This is a real honor, and it's based on safety record, customer satisfaction and his claims. Aside from more money for him, it also means he jumps to the front of the line whenever there's a bunch of drivers waiting for a load. Good job, Bill!
The decal...
Careful application is key.
The reveal!
Yay Bill!

Mike Turns 19

Sam came to visit me at work. See the big hole in the building? My boss bought a printer that wouldn't fit through the door. Problem? No way! Let's just make a big door where one didn't exist before!
Mike blows out his candles.
Happy Birthday, Buddy!

Cleveland County Fair - and Mullet Watch

Ahhhhh, Time for the fair.
Immediately upon entering we began to see a sea of mullets. Sam and Bill thought it would be fun to try to capture them on film. Here's Mullet number 1.
And right next door, Mullet Number 2!

Here's Bill and Sam at the ticket booth. And right behind them - Mullet Number 3.
Here in the sunglasses factory, Mullet Number 4.
Bill enjoys a sausage!
Sam enjoys a roasted corn.

Gads! Look at the yellow jackets! You couldn't pay me enough to work at the lemonade stand.
In the tent of mutant animals, Sam marvels at the Giant Rat!
A 5-Legged goat wore his disability well...
Sam asked some lady to take a picture of the 3 of us. She did, reluctantly. With much sighing and grunting, she grudgingly turned to take this picture. Sorry, lady! You could have just said no.
Here's the lady... Our view of her, anyway.
Next it was off the the races. The pig races, that is. See the little porkers run!
These racing geese were the cutest things ever!

And, lo and behold, in front of us - Mullet Number 5.

The fairway!
This guy was really cool. He made very intricate carving from just a stump. All with a chainsaw. We were impressed.
This poor kangaroo looked drugged. He never participated in the show. Wonder what the deal was with him?
Look! Two mullets in one shot. The guy in the white hat has a two-toned mullet. The guy in the black hat, a regular mullet. Numbers 6 & 7.

Bill bought me this cool pumpkin carved (and painted) by the wood-carving dude.

Me and Bill on the ferris wheel.
Lovely view up there.
This is looking the other direction at all the rv's and off into the distance. We had a great time at the fair.
