It's Been A While...

Faye was here for a visit. She's knitting a purple scarf. Here she is with Mike before we headed out for Gavin's birthday party.

Sam and Gaige went for a walk up to the bathrooms.
This is just before Gavin's party got underway. It was extremely hot! He got a ton of gifts and seemed very pleased.
We put some wax lips in his birthday bag.
Gaige LOVED the whoopie cushion. He sat on it again and again, laughing uproariously each time.
Sue and I went to check out the historic Washburn store.

This is the Washburn house, just across from the store. The lady in the store lives here with her husband and she was very nice.
A few days later we went to Sam's for barbecue. Dave and Rene and Brooke came too.
Sam and Mike hammed it up inside.

After Sue left, Bill and I went to Lake Lure for a night. He'd heard about this place - the Geneva. It advertised a tiki bar and hammocks to relax in by the river. Also a wedding arbor. Please do NOT take these pictures as an endorsement! The carpet was sticky, the room stank, and overall was not a good hotel. The pictures, however, make it look pretty cool. Sometimes that'll happen...
Tiki Bar
View from the bar. That's Chimney Rock up there in the distance.

The "arbor".
The grounds.

Cool big checker board!

The river was lovely and the wildlife abundant.
A family of ducks swimming upstream.
Turtles sunning themselves on the rock. See the little guy swimming up? He's like "I wanna sunbathe too!"
Finally, last week, I went on a trip with Bill to Johnson City, TN. The mountains were very beautiful.
Unfortunately, vehicle size-ism is rampant along the highways and we were not able to enjoy any of the scenic overlooks since we were in the big truck. Bummer. So this post catches me up, I guess, and I'll try to do my next post in a more timely fashion.
