Some Men Bring Home Flowers.....

My man brought me home a car!

It's a Jetta and it's sooo cute! And drives great. THANKS BILL!!!!!

In other news, I don't know who remembers my blog post about Mike's headlights a few years ago, but I polished up Bill's headlights on his pickup using that stuff. Here's the before.

And the after!!! Unbelievable! I could do a commercial for this stuff!

This is the stuff....

Happy Fourth of July!

We walked up the street last night to watch the Mooresboro fireworks show. This little town puts on one hell of a show! Years ago, when I first moved here, the only people who showed up at the park to watch were Mooresboro residents. There were hot dogs and home made ice cream, volleyball, a little band, and the kids played on the playground equipment. This year there were hundreds of people - it was actually crowded. Long line for hot dogs. But the show? Fabulous!!!!! I used the Fireworks setting on my new camera, which is why I have so many pictures. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them if you want, then click again to enlarge them more (if you are so inclined...)

Trip to WNC Farmer's Market in Asheville

After Friday night's ball game, we got up Saturday morning and headed up to Ashevile to visit some farmer's markets. Traffic was really awful - wreck after wreck. So by the time we got there, we were starving. We ate at The Moose, right by the farmer's market.

This is my meal. I was expecting a farmer's market fresh meal. I was disappointed, as nothing except the cabbage on my plate tasted homemade. Bill's was chicken fried steak. He had mashed potatoes, which also did not taste homemade even though the description on the menu said they were. The only homemade tasting thing on Bill's plate was the pintos. It was tasty in a Cracker Barrel type way. Not homemade.

All that lack of homemade-ness wouldn't have been so bad, but for this sign.

Inside the market. Look at the bird feeders up there!

This is one of the market halls.

All the produce looked so beautiful.

We bought peaches.

A million types of honey!

We bought blackberries and blueberries.

Mmmmmm.... Fresh grapes.....

We bought potatoes, squash, and green beans. And corn, which I foolishly neglected to photograph because it was really beautiful.

We bought cabbage....

Finally, on the way home, we stopped and bought a chicken, which I placed in a nice buttermilk bath last night. It is resting comfortably in the refrigerator right now. Tonight? Fried chicken, homemade biscuits, green beans, corn, potaotes, fresh tomatoes and yep! blackberry cobbler!

You know you're jealoous...

Forest City Owls vs. Team Japan

We headed out to Forest City to watch the Owls play Team Japan. Chelsea, an Owls employee, got us some box seats. Thanks Cheslea!

The field was lovely and the game was great. Owls lost by quite a bit. We ate some hamburgers and had some really great frozen lemonade.

At the end of the game, the players went past one another just like Mike's little TBall team - "good game, good game, good game, good game" Hey there's Hoot the mascot! There's another one called Annie.  Ha ha. Get it? Hoot-n-Annie.

The players were kind enough to pose up for a picture for me :)
