Bonnie and Kathryn Beach 2012

Horrible picture of Jodie, but here's Kathryn opening birthday gifts.

Here she is wearing the dress I gave her (over clothes, but still looks cute.)

Beautiful mother and daughter, Alicia and Ana.

Kathryn with a grandchild clinging to her.

Kathryn with Alivia and Alison.

The traditional Unlocking The Door pic.

Kathryn surveys the view from the deck.

Smile!

The two of us...

A sand shark! Nyuk nyuk...

The view from our chairs.

Sand pyramids.

Here we are on leaving day.

And one more :) Another lovely beach adventure, even though I broke my toe there.

Pictures from Asheville

The day I did at membership drive cookout at the Halfway House, this snake was sitting on the tenth tee. The golfers were waiting for him to move. I called maintenance, and Ed said "Scare him away. Hell I don't do snakes!" The snake crawled across the golf cart path, then slowly crawled up a bush and onto this sign. He laid on the sign, the went up in a tree.

So it was 100 degrees outside and there we were grilling burgers and knockwurst by the pool. The pool! It was so.... close.... Sweated to death!!! But it was a pretty good time. The grill, by the way, is located where it is because that's where Mr. Warren, the GM, wanted it! I had situated it farther from the bench and farther from the wall (see grease splatter?)

I know I've mentioned McCartney to some of you, as we do these bbq's together all the time. So here she is!

Notice the new barstools? Wish I had removed that red blanket before taking picture. Oh well.

Little dining area with 2 very different roosters facing off.

Blurry but here's a view of bedroom.

And here is where you'll be sleeping when you visit :)

Our porch area... I spend much time out here.

Some work pictures and another BBQ

This is the kitchen where I work. On the other side of those colorful plates, on that big wood table, is the garde manger station where I spend a great deal of time. On the left is the hot line, on the right is the servers' station.

This is looking down past the hot line and way on back into the break room. The boy is Umberto, a server.

This is the hot line, where a la carte meals are prepared.

This is some of the Sunday brunch buffet. That's McCartney, another intern, manning the omelette station. In the chafers? Eggs Benedict, biscuits, gray, waffles, french toast, and berry blintzes.

The dining room (the other side of the room from the previous pic) as Sunday brunch is just getting underway.

Cassie, Kim's intern, on the sweets. Umberto is trying to get in the picture again :)

View from the "Halfway House". It's a snack bar on the tenth tee.

Glancing back the other way from the Halfway House. That's the ninth green.

Standing on the tenth tee.

June 21 BBQ at Halfway House. This BBQ was an assignment given to me by Chef. I planned the menu, did all the prep, set up the whole thing, and then manned the grill on the day. Italian sausages with grilled onions and peppers, buffalo/chipotle sausages, hamburgers with all the fixin's, grilled chicken breast with barbecue sauce, and huge quarter pound hot dogs with chili and cheese. It was a success.

Well here are some happy golfers now, about to partake (if I will put down my camera and get over there to serve them). I was really proud of my little event. It went off without a hitch, and I even got a "Good job today" from Chef!

Miscellaneous pics from the past month or so

Bill and I saw this double rainbow while we were out and about!

There was apparently some meeting for cool car owners in Biltmore Park the other day. We saw no owners, but check out these cars!!!

We walked over to ColdStone for a smoothie. Here's Bill on one of the whimsical benches they have scattered about in Biltmore Park.

I made miniature peppers stuffed with shrimp (sauteed in garlic and butter) and orzo. Put a little side salad on and it was DIVINE. Kathryn's idea, so Bill has dubbed this dish "Shrimp Kathryn".

Samantha and I rode to Greensboro to see Michael's college theater swansong. It was "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He played Pyramus and Nick Bottom (and a few other roles, as well). He was incredibly great. We laughed and laughed. It was an amazing show and I'm SOOOO glad we saw it. This is before the show, when Faye and Michael met us for lunch.
