Phoenix Trip - Part 7

Next, after the heat and monotony of the desert, we headed to Tempe. I'd heard from fellow passengers on my flight that Tempe was a cool place to be. Unbeknowst to us, there was a University of Arizona game that night. They played UNLV and the streets were packed with kids getting to the stadium, which was right in the downtown area. We watched people going to the game, sat on a bar patio or two and had a beer.
We felt old there, so we headed to Glendale, another little burrough of Phoenix. We felt Glendale was highly overrated. It was just a few streets of touristy shops and things. It was pretty, though.
And we were starving to death. So we ate here. Authentic looking Mexican place.
I didn't take the time to photograph the food before we scarfed it down. As I said we were STARVING. It was delicious, especially my cheese enchiladas!
We spent the night back in Tempe, ate some Chili's fare that I won't bore you with photos of, then, pleasantly buzzed and happy went back to the hotel room. We had planned to go see Fountain Hills the next morning, before I had to be at the airport for my 2:00 flight. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when Orbitz called me and told me my flight had been rerouted due to Hurricane Ike. One thing led to another and I had to be at the airport at 7:00 the following morning. My plane ended up having a crack in the fuel tank (!), so eventually, after 8 loooonnnngggg hours of waiting, I was given a voucher for a hotel room in Tempe and a USAir flight home the next morning. This is the line I stood in to get that....
This is the room we stayed in that night. Since I had to be at the airport so early, we didn't really have time to do much of anything, not to mention the energy.
We ate in the hotel restaurant. Delicious!
And hung out by the pool.
And that is the end of our Phoenix vacation. It was lovely. Next time - Grand Canyon!!!
